kagat ng langam
i’ve gotta admit that the past few days have been ok… i can’t say that i enjoyed all the classes but they were productive in one way or another..
but the highlight of the whole week in 2nd year medicine would be the stories told by the higher levels…
para lang ito kagat ng langam… according to the higher level students, there would come a time in our subject wherein we’d be doing an experiment concerning a vaccine…
but then the procedure, as the higher years put it, were kind of… hmm… scary?!
first,
we’ll be put in the position such as the above… painful, scary, freaky!… ok i’m exagerating… actually we’d be told to go on a line… and then, one by one, we’d be asked to lift the sleeves of our shirts…
THEN, we’d be rubbed by a piece of cotton containing alcohol to clear our skin of any possible opportunistic organisms… then the same piece of cotton would be used to clean up the cover of an ancient bottle containing a special vaccine…
and then, well it goes on and eventually ends up with us being injected with a yellowish solution that is said to keep us away from certain infectious agents
and the one involved in doing the application of the vaccine would simply say ok lang yan para lang yan kagat ng langam accompanied by rapid insertion of the needle into your muscle… good part is possibly, you’d be SAFE from the communicable disease… BAD PART the ff.
1. ancient old bottle = ancient old vaccine
2. you’d get sick for two weeks
3. not exactly an aseptic practice
4. possibility of having numbness and inflammation at sight of innoculation
wah! there has got to be a way to get out of that situation…. it’s just too plain ol’ scary! sheesh…. hopefully that gossip won’t happen this year…. sana maiba ang pangyayari ngayon taon… and that everything myt eventually turn out to be okay in the end… =)
