i’ve been staying in this country for about 5years of my so called mature life and about 3years of my wisdomed life……. and guess what, i don’t feel too proud of being here anymore…. i’m starting to see how bad this place is… honestly, i really am…. and its sad but i think i’ve just about out grown my being a patriot… i’m beggining to see that this place is actually becomming the land of hopelessness…
painful? YES, sad? YES…. but what could i do? everyone has a limit, and i’ve just about reached it……….
when i came back here, i thought man, this place is great… it’s good to be back home… chance to experience things that i’ve yet to experience, chance to tour my homeland… but now, i’m beginning to see through the thick mist that has been blinding me for years….
this country, is great… no doubt about it… it is actually a country rich in resources and man power particularly skilled workers… people here are smart in every meaning of the word… the infrastructure of SOME places are good, there are even so many tourists spots that any local or foreigner alike, would spend money to go to… we got great beaches, historical places, wild life, you name it, we got it……… i don’t complain about these things… what i’m starting to not like are the people that run this country….
but let me make something clear, i’m not referring to politicians… NO, not this time……. today, lets talk about the economy and the economists….
ever looked in the papers or the web or watched the news lately? did you guys notice that the PESO is actually getting stronger? (or the US dollar becomming weaker?)… anyways, its 49pesos to 1 dollar now all the way up from 56! aint that great? now let me ask you this….. was there any change at all? come on think!!!!! what? can’t say? let me answer you…. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the importance of a strong peso? i believe that the importance of this is that it means, that the country could import at a lesser expense… import goods to be sold to the people within the country… it means people having a greater buying power out of their peso… which means, there should be a better life for earning filipinos now than it was before… but is there? nah ah…
the prices of gas and fuel have rolled back a little… which is good… which means that every individual who owns a car, now spends less on fuel and every individual buying LPGs save more money…. but only up to that….
how many people own a car in the Philippines? not many i believe, because more than 70% of the country live in poverty! so what with the gas?!… now thinking about that, this means that jeepney drivers should be living better now because the fuel is less BUT THEY NEVER LOWERED THEIR FARE!… these people keep on asking of increase in fare each time the fuel prices rise but do they roll back when the fuel prices do? NOPE! sick…and then when the fuel starts to rise a little bit again, they increase their fare again! WTF……
enough with the jeepneys… lets talk about the prices of everything here in the philippines…. a friend of mine said living in the Philippines is not cheap at all… it is true… suprised? c’mon now, if you’ve been living here in the Philippines, you should have known that from the beginning… it is expensive to live here.. why? because despite the growing power of the PESO, the prices of everything that we consume is still the same, if not, it even becomes more expensive….
for example, the cheapest rice when the peso was at 56, was 21 at our place…. now that the PESO is up, it is still the same. the price of a meal from a local fast food restaurant back then was around 70 and it is still the same today…. this shows that no matter how well the economy here in the Philippines performs, the filipino people would still suffer because no one works together… everyone just thinks about themselves….
guess what? just tonight (13 Nov 2006) in the news, they said that prices of goods from the market would rise because it is Christmas!!! f@#k … the hell is that?! they said that there’d be lesser stocks plus a lot of overseas workers would be sending money back on christmas… that is absolutely STUPID… who the hell cares?!…. and to think it is christmas….
lets just say that the market people just wanna earn extra so that they could celebrate christmas… then comes in the greatest question of them all… do the prices go back AFTER christmas?! NO!!!!! it stays that way for the rest of the year and increases again when the power of the peso begins to fall even if it initially stayed at 49… so if goes back to 52, prices would rise again… aint that nuts? the prices didnt go down from when it was 56 to when it rose to 49 and when it falls again below 50, prices would rise again….
imagine that, people being able to import at a lower price, but selling stuff here in the philippines at a price that is still the same when the price of import was high……. people are making a lot of money while most are becomming poorer and poorer… what a place…..
i do not know nor do i understand nor would i ever understand the mentality of most filipinos here are….
everyone keeps saying that filipinos are hospitable, kind and friendly… it is true FOR SOME but US filipinos in GENERAL?! you freaking liar…. it is not true……..
most filipinos are SELFISH… just like the BROTHER of Cinderella in my previous post…. everyone just aims to improve their own life regardless if others suffer…
just look at everything here now… nothings changed, in fact it is getting worse…. prices don’t stop increasing despite the strength of the peso…. that sucks…
the country by itself is beautiful, in fact it is paradise…. but it is the people living in it and the people running it (economically speaking) that makes this place, a living hell
